As well as photographing the end result of food on the plate, I’m passionate about capturing the whole food journey with authenticity. Many of us have lost touch with where our fresh produce comes from, and as an avid gardener, I love to capture every part of the food cycle and celebrate the abundance that the earth provides for us.
My lifestyle and outdoor shots are really varied, and can include anything from a humble vegetable plot to elegant vineyards, bustling food preparation in the kitchen to family feasts around the dinner table. Getting to know the space and the people who work in it really helps to tell a story with the photographs. Focusing on the skilled people that make a business tick can really highlight the time and hard work that goes into getting food from field to fork, and in my experience, customers love these candid glimpses behind the scenes.

I also adore working outdoors. The abundance of natural light is fantastic, although it does bring its own challenges. We all crave bright, sunny days, but the harsh shadows they create can be tricky to work with. My favourite weather to work in is a slightly overcast day. The clouds act as a natural diffuser, which casts a gorgeous soft light over everything and makes colours and textures really stand out. But whatever the weather, I’m not shy to get stuck in and capture creative photographs come rain or shine!
